Experts have warned that waiting until traditional phone systems are shut off in 2025 could cost businesses thousands. They warn that many small and medium-sized UK businesses are wasting money and missing out on productivity benefits by sticking with traditional landline phones.
Businesses see average savings of between 50 per cent and 75 per cent after switching to VoIP while lowering local call costs by 40 per cent. Now the experts are encouraging SMEs to make phone systems a higher priority and adopt new innovations such as cloud and VOIP technologies sooner to reduce costs.
Juliet Moran, Technical Director of TelephoneSystems.Cloud said, “switching phone systems may not be on the top of some businesses‘ to-do lists but it is a simple way to start reducing costs and increasing productivity.
“Businesses that keep traditional on-site phone systems until the Big Switch happens in 2025 will have to contend with additional maintenance costs on an aging system while paying per-minute fees and long-distance charges.
“Modern VoIP systems provide businesses with a suite of tools to help employees stay connected and work flexibly. VoIP can save businesses big money while offering employees the opportunity to work effectively wherever they are in the world, increasing productivity and staff loyalty.
TelephoneSystems.Cloud’s five ways VoIP can save small businesses big money:
VoIP phone systems use the internet to make and receive calls so a VoIP phone can make calls over any broadband connection meaning no additional fees for making a call.
VoIP allows employees to work anywhere while remaining integrated into the company phone system allowing businesses to support a growing hybrid workforce and retain staff who prioritise remote working.
Most VoIP phone systems come bundled with collaboration tools including instant messaging, video conferencing, file management and contact centre functionality providing employee visibility all on one bill.
Once a business has made the switch to VoIP it is straightforward to scale a plan up and add features without needing to reset and start all over again.
Businesses that keep existing on-site phone systems until 2025 will need to contend with regular maintenance and equipment repair from a technician while those that have already made the switch to VoIP will have all their servicing, upgrades, and repairs handled by the service provider saving time and money.
